Search Engines are the base of driving tonnes of free traffic to your website. It is a little difficult but yet very valuable. In this post i will teach you few things about getting your website listed on the search engines for your keywords so you can see for yourself whether the money you pay to optimizers to get you “only placed in search engines” is a big waste and can be spend on much better things like advertising or content creation or even graphics designing.
The difference between search engine ranking and placement :
Search engine ranking is more like an ongoing project. This is why there is a subscription plan with the major seo companies. Because no one can guarantee the top ranking for eternity. You have to make sure that you keep paying the companies cash so that they can keep building links and content for your website and make sure that you remain on top.
Search engine placement on the other hand is a process where you get listed in search engines (maybe top 100 results) for your keyword(s) and does not include your higher rankings. You will see people charging hundred of bucks for a process as simple as this. Save yourself the hassle of this stupidity and follow the basic optimization guide to get listed in top 100.
The complete blueprint for top 100 rankings:
On-Page Settings :
1) META Tags : Make sure that your webpage has the keyword in its URL. EMD (Exact Match Domain) is an added benefit but those of you who are building a brand or a category focus on keyword in inner page URL. Also keywords in description and keywords should be added. Let google know about the whole theme of that webpage.
2) The content and graphics should match with the overall theme of the page, which in turn should be related to the basic niche of your website. While the content should have a maximum of 2-3 references of main keyword (a percentage occurrence would be a better choice) along with few more reference of synonym words (like car rental can have rent a car, rent a vehicle, car rental company, car renting services etc).
The images should have the usual alt tag and file name optimized. Like the images used for insurance company should have the filename “insurance-company-california.(jpg/bmp/png)” and suitable alt tags.
3) If possible try to include few videos (one should be enough) which would just show that your page has something more to offer about that subject. You can optimize various things about videos too like description, title, keywords etc. Videos hosted on youtube would be another +1 since you have some authority related to your page.
4) The outbound links concept – Google and other search engines rely on the concept of link building to be able to crawl other pages. If you do not link to other pages how the hell is google supposed to know that a website exists? Do not go selfish thinking that my rankings will be affected. By this logic you should not place ads or even the youtube video right?
Try to link some authority websites (not your competitors) with main keywords. It will not harm your ranking. Websites like bodybuilding.com, wikipedia, pro blogger, digital point etc. are authority sites and when you link to them it only means that you are pointing your visitors to a page related to the content as yours. If page-rank is a concern (which shouldn’t be) then make these links no-follow.
5) Deep Linking or Interlinking – To build authority outside the website, it’s important to show search engines that your website and it’s pages treats the desired page with authority love. What i mean is your website as a whole should talk about that particular page with anchor text url. If your website has 40 pages on concept of weight loss and you are trying to rank on first page for a keyword loose arm fat then link to this page from other weight loss pages (do not include pages like privacy policy, about etc.) with the keyword “loose arm fat” and use 2-3 variations also. This way SEs would know that your website respects the page for it’s content.
Off-Page Settings : The BIG BOYZZ WORK BRUH!!!!
This is what takes away the whole competition after website authority and deep-linking have been considered. Remember we are trying to place the website in top 100 only and not trying to rank on first page so what methods iam telling here will get you listed at the least.
STEP 1 : Social Bookmarking -
Websites like Digg, Diggo, Tagged, Stumble Upon, Reddit etc are called as bookmarking websites. These websites allow you to save a web-page to your account to be able to view them later. For what it’s worth to link-builders this means backlinks from high authority and trusted websites.
1) Try to google for atleast 10 social bookmarking sites – both no-follow and do-follow.
2) Create an account on all these sites and bookmark your page with relevant information (keywords, title, description etc) at a slow rate. Try to cover 20 sites in a week or 2.
3) Do not automate these things and in no way use any software. Though i myself have seen the softwares do wonders but it is not safe and could compromise your website.
STEP 2 : Article Submission And Press Release -
There are websites which allow you to write/publish articles/press releases on their network. The concept behind this business model is you give them quality content and they give you a backlink from their trusted and authority website (which is also niche related – category wise).
1) Google for websites which manually review the articles. These pass the best link juice and some are ezinearticles, article alley, a1 article, pr log, information wire etc. You will need 7-8 of these.
2) Create and verify your account on these websites and start with writing content for publishing.
3) Keep it low – like 2-3 article submits a week. The content you write should be related to the page you are advertising and itself should be well optimised.
4) Submit 7-8 articles in 2 weeks time and you should be done.
IMPORTANT – Try that each article you submit is unique and has 400-500 topic related words in it.
STEP 3 : Blog Commenting -
Blog commenting is a process where you tell other webmasters what you think about their post as a person (mostly positive things so that comment is approved 
). This builds a healthy relationship among every webmaster and trust with subscribers.
1) Try these google searches :
“keyword” + “powered by wordpress” – you can try drupal and other CMS also but wordpress is widely used and will fetch more results.
2) Build a small list of pages which have good conversation going on about the topic you have written. Read the blog and try to tell the webmaster what he should include, what you think is better than his idea etc.
3) Try to comment on 20-30 blogs which means approx. 2-3 everyday.
STEP 4 : Blog Creation -
There are sites which provide you with a medium of expressing your feelings through a blog. Major players are blogger, wordpress, tumblr, webs, weebly, jimdo etc. Here you need only 2 and the best ones are blogger and wordpress.
1) Create an account on these sites and make sure to use keyword in sub-domain name for these blogs.
2) For a month or so update these blog often (2-3 updates every week should be enough) with niche related content.
IMPORTANT : Nowadays since spam is increasing your blogs might get deleted very soon. To make sure yours are not, try to dilute the whole process of creation. I mean don’t start blogging as soon as you create the blog.First tweak basic settings like discussion, appearance, themes, deleting hello-world posts etc. And make sure you update these frequently. Or else these will get deleted very soon.
A Month’s Hard Work and then Reports :
At the end of first month (more like 6 weeks) after you have followed this procedure not only will you see your website ranking in top 100, if your website does not have a strong competition this can get you on top 30 also. A prolonged effort of continuous link-building from these sites for a period of 4-5 months can get a website of medium competition on page one.
So here is the basic summary – To get listed all you actually need is a blogger or wordpress blog and few social bookmarks with 1-2 article submission. The above procedure will not only get you listed it will also secure good rankings for your website.
Word of Caution :
Please do not automate this task using any software. If you are a big company you can get this done under 50 bucks through freelancers. Do mention about no automation and no spam policy. Unique content is a must and slow-steady-continuous effort will be fruitful.
